WBPSC Clerkship exam is conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission for recruitment to clerical posts across various departments of the West Bengal government. This exam is one of the most accessible state government job opportunities with eligibility starting from Class 12 pass. Objective-type MCQ paper of 100 marks covering 5 sections: Bengali Language (20 marks), English Language (20 marks), Mathematics (20 marks), General Knowledge (20 marks), and Reasoning (20 marks). Duration: 90 minutes. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
Computer-based typing test in both Bengali (30 WPM minimum) and English (25 WPM minimum). Passage is provided and candidates must type it accurately within the allotted time. Qualifying in nature — marks not counted for merit.
Verification of all original documents including educational certificates, age proof, domicile certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), and typing speed certificate (if required).

Minimum 12th (Higher Secondary) pass from a recognized board affiliated to West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent. Candidates must also have proficiency in Bengali language.
The age limit is 18 to 40 years. Age relaxation of 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and 5 years for SC/ST candidates is applicable as per West Bengal government rules.
Candidates must have a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in Bengali and 25 words per minute in English on a computer. The typing test is qualifying in nature.
Clerkship salary ranges from Rs. 22,700 to Rs. 58,500 per month (Pay Level 6) plus allowances including Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Medical Allowance, and other government benefits. In-hand salary is approximately Rs. 28,000-35,000 per month.
