120 multiple-choice questions of 120 marks: General Awareness (50 Qs), Mathematics (35 Qs), General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 Qs). Duration: 90 minutes. For posts requiring Graduation, additional subject-specific questions are included. Negative marking of 1/3rd mark per wrong answer.
Typing test for clerical posts (30 WPM English / 25 WPM Hindi on computer). For Station Master and related posts, a skill test in computer operations may be conducted. Qualifying in nature — marks not counted for final merit.
Verification of all original documents followed by medical fitness examination as per Railway medical standards. Candidates are classified into Aye, Bee, or Cee medical categories based on the post applied.

Station Master salary ranges from Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month (Pay Level 6) plus allowances. The total in-hand salary with DA, HRA, and railway-specific allowances is approximately Rs. 50,000-60,000 per month.
For clerical posts, candidates must have a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on a computer without using any software or autocorrect features.
There are 4 stages: CBT 1 (screening), CBT 2 (merit-based), Skill Test/Typing Test (qualifying for specific posts), and Document Verification & Medical Examination. Final merit is based on CBT 2 marks.
Yes, there is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer in both CBT 1 and CBT 2. Unanswered questions do not attract any penalty.
